Variety - 100% Pinot Noir

Winemaker - Len Lehmann

Vineyard - Regan Vineyards and Veranda Vineyard

Appellation - Corralitos, Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, CA

Alcohol - 14.8%

Case Production - 100

Fermentation/Winemaking - Crush was followed by six days of cold soak, at 40 degrees.  We utilized a native fermentation (no yeast added, relying only on the native yeasts on the skins of the grapes and resident in the winery). Maceration lasted 12 days. We did a light pressing with a hand-operated basket press. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 17 months, and released at 4 years.  It is unfiltered.

Kosher Winemaking

  • Our wine is supervised kosher, parve, and kosher for Passover by Rabbi David Booth at (conservative) Congregation Kol Emeth in Palo Alto and carries his hechsker on the label.  It is not mevushal (ritually boiled).
  • Our wines don’t carry a nationally recognized certification, and so some observant Jews may require that their wines carry an OU or similar certification.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is the world’s most popular light-bodied red wine. It’s loved for its red fruit, flower, and spice aromas that are accentuated by a long, smooth finish. A very versatile food pairing wine given it’s higher high acidity and lower tannin. Pinot Noir pairs particularly well with duck, chicken, pork, and mushrooms. Pinot noir famously hails from the Burgundy region of France. It is recognized as producing some of the most important, recognizable wines in history. In the last several decades, California has grown in acclaim for it's pinot noir on the world stage. The Russian River Valley, Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria in particular can be relied upon to produce world class pinot noir.
